Constellation is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to be a hands-on subject matter expert responsible for the overall software design of many components within systems and to lead the technical implementation of multiple initiatives, while also covering operational application production support of multiple systems across portfolios.
Requirements
- 9-12 years of relevant hands-on experience in object programming languages such as: Python, Perl, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, .NET, HTML, AngularJS, iOS Swift and/or Objective-C, Android Mobile, Xamarin, or Python
- 10+ years of software design and development experience with backend and database services such as SQL or NoSQL databases - Oracle, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MySQL, Redis, Splunk
- Experience with migrating workloads from on-prem to cloud such as GCP
- 3+ years architecting distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud and cloud-native architecture.
- Proven ability to design and implement microservices and containerized solutions using Docker/Kubernetes.
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for automated deployments.
Responsibilities
- Develop architecture and design of large-scale distributed software services and solutions.
- Drive improvements to software engineering practices.
- Provide Technology Production support for multiple high Business value applications in an operational capacity across Portfolios.
- Drive multiple projects through to delivery removing obstacles as needed to ensure success.
- Collaborate with teams across Constellation to achieve goals, promote collaboration across teams for code reuse and knowledge sharing and mentor and develop other engineers.
- Keep up to date with industry trends and apply to projects as appropriate.
- Identify investments needed to improve business/customer/partner experience through a data driven approach.
Other
- Bachelor's Degree in IT/Computer Science or Engineering and at least 8 to to 10 years' experience in area of technical specialty; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 10+ years of IT application production support experience supporting multiple applications across portfolios in an operational environment servicing an enterprise level user base.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English with excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
- Provide coaching/ mentorship for IT personnel.
