Walmart's Payroll Technology team is looking to solve the business and technical problem of managing and modernizing the world's largest payroll implementation, ensuring 2 million associates are paid correctly and on time, while maintaining compliance with all relevant payroll rules and regulations.
Requirements
- At least 8+ years of relevant industry experience in building and operating Mainframe-based Tier-0 applications.
- Expertise with Relational and/or NoSQL Databases and use of Cloud Services.
- Experience with Cloud Services, NoSQL Databases, Distributed Systems, CI/CD are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development and launch of all changes to Walmart's payroll system.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including business, data science, product and other software engineers to understand the business problem, review business requirements, draft technical requirements, scope, design, develop, test, and deploy solutions.
- Be the role model and exemplary practitioner in the team, and establish mechanisms (design reviews, code reviews, OE reviews, root cause analysis, etc.) to ensure high quality, high availability, scalable and performant systems are delivered.
- Advocate the use of latest technology and system integration patterns, cutting across team boundaries.
- Simplify operations of the Mainframe-based system.
- Lead teams of vendors who will keep the system compliant with all relevant federal/state/local payroll rules and regulations.
- Contribute to ongoing initiatives to modernize Walmart's payroll system.

- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership from inception to launch of multiple complex and ambiguous projects.

- Effective communication and collaboration skills, including consensus building, conflict resolution, influence and persuasion skills.
- Mentoring/coaching junior engineers in technical problem solving and career advancement.
- Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
