Spectrum is looking to hire a Principal Software Engineer I to lead a high-performing front-end engineering team in creating innovative customer experiences for Spectrum's digital platforms. The role involves prioritizing, developing, and delivering impactful features, mentoring engineers, and assessing needs, time constraints, and system limitations in software development.
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of software engineering and object-oriented design principles.
- Demonstrated in-depth and knowledge of front-end development across Java, mobile app and/or web technologies.
- Ability to keep current with trends and technological innovations in the industry in order to contribute to the execution of proofs-of-concept for new approaches.
- Adhere to best practices for code development, version control, continuous integration/delivery, and test/build automation.
- Familiarity with dependency management and build systems like Maven and Ant.
- Experience working with open-source software such as Spring, Google Guice, Guava, Tomcat, and NoSQL solutions.
- Embedded software engineering experience in Linux/C/Rust.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the technical direction, execution and final decisions for all software solutions created (includes information architecture, software architecture, software design, testing, automation, analytics and instrumentation).
- Design, implement, monitor, enhance and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas.
- Write code and integrate packages (software/application), and writing supporting test cases: (e.g. unit, devtest, automation) for various project assignments and provide recommendations to peer review coding sessions.
- Create custom embedded linux distributions leveraging OpenWRT, or Ubuntu and tools such as Yocto.
- Understand and adhere to Spectrum coding best practices and principles when developing or integrating code as well as when conducting code reviews.
- Maintain subject matter expertise in embedded Linux software programming in language C, domain architecture, industry tools and trends in order to give strategic recommendation and provide technical support to these areas as needed.
- Utilize GitLab pipelines; create and run ansible playbooks.
