Microsoft is looking for a Principal Software Engineer Manager to lead the Rich Data Services team within Excel. This team is responsible for delivering real-time stock data and Geography Rich Entities, which are crucial for the product's value. The role aims to ensure these core services are compliant, performant, scalable, reliable, and secure, while also driving innovation through an AI-driven approach.
Requirements
- 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 6+ years experience designing and debugging complex applications or services.
- 6+ years experience shipping quality software products.
- 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- Experience managing services, or an eagerness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Software Engineers and work with other experienced Software Engineers Managers, Product Managers, Designers and cross-functional teams to deliver quality solutions across platforms (Win32, Web, Mac and Mobile) that ship to hundreds of millions of customers around the world.
- Design and develop large components with quality, performance, simplicity, durability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Contribute efforts to collect, classify, and analyze data to be used for decision-making.
- Work across organizations and directly with partners both in Office and across Microsoft including other engineers and product leaders.
- Maintaining compliance, performance, scalability, and top-tier reliability and security.
- The role also requires an AI-driven approach to improve and innovate these services.

- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
