Walmart is seeking to solve real-world, global-scale infrastructure problems by automating systems that power over 10,000 locations and hundreds of millions of transactions daily
Requirements
- Deep expertise in infrastructure as code, network automation, and intent-based system design
- Proficient in Go, Python, and frameworks like Django
- Comfortable operating in environments with high reliability and uptime expectations (SLOs, error budgets, on-call rotations)
- Familiar with modern DevOps tooling: CI/CD pipelines, monitoring/alerting frameworks, GitOps practices
- Experienced with source-of-truth systems (e.g., NetBox) and hybrid/cloud-native environments (Azure, GCP a plus)
Responsibilities
- Define and lead architecture for core infrastructure automation components, including orchestrators, workflow engines, configuration managers, and auto-remediation pipelines
- Build and scale intent-based networking capabilities that abstract away manual operations and enable real-time, policy-driven infrastructure control
- Design extensible APIs and microservices that empower internal teams through intuitive, self-service automation
- Lead platform reliability practices—ensuring high availability, robust observability, and clear incident response workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (networking, SRE, cloud, security, observability) to align technical solutions with business needs
- Mentor and influence engineers across the organization, shaping Walmart’s infrastructure engineering culture and best practices
Other
- 10+ years of experience building distributed systems or infrastructure platforms at scale
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- Strong communicator and technical influencer with a track record of leading by example
