Microsoft Security aspires to make the world a safer place for all by reshaping security and empowering users, customers, and developers with a security cloud. This role is to build the next generation security data platform and partner with teams in Microsoft Security and Azure to make architectural decisions in an ambiguous space, revolutionizing security, governance, and compliance solutions across Microsoft and other cloud environments.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience designing, developing, or maintaining secure software systems, with applied knowledge of authentication, data protection, access control, and secure coding practices.
  • 6+ years of experience designing and developing scalable solutions using microservices architecture and related technologies (e.g., REST, gRPC, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • 12+ years of experience designing, developing, or maintaining secure software systems, with applied knowledge of authentication, data protection, access control, and secure coding practices.
  • 12+ years of experience working with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Databricks, or similar technologies to transform and manage large-scale datasets.
  • 12+ years of experience designing and developing scalable solutions using microservices architecture and related technologies (e.g., REST, gRPC, Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

  • Design Secure Solutions: Apply authentication, access control, and secure coding best practices.
  • Drive System Integration: Influence architecture and ensure seamless service interoperability.
  • Champion Innovation: Lead experiments to evaluate emerging technologies and identify best-fit solutions.
  • Develop Scalable Software: Build reliable, maintainable, and scalable systems for evolving needs.
  • Ensure Operational Excellence: Embed monitoring, incident response, and live-site readiness into development.
  • Promote Engineering Standards: Advocate for clean code, modern practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Enhance Developer Productivity: Improve tools and automation to streamline workflows.

Other

  • Lead Teams & Technology: Oversee people, engineering schedules, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Define Security Personas: Clarify user roles and security scenarios to guide solution design.
  • 2+ years of experience building consensus and resolving conflicts across cross-functional teams to drive alignment and effective decision-making.
  • 2+ years of experience managing software engineering teams of at least 8 engineers, with a proven track record of driving technical execution, fostering team growth, and delivering high-impact solutions in complex environments.
  • Hybrid Position located at Microsoft office in Redmond, Washington. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the field location.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
