Microsoft is looking to build a global-scale, Kubernetes-based service platform that powers Microsoft's productivity workloads. The COSMIC team aims to standardize service delivery and build a modern Kubernetes-based compute fabric with turn-key geo-presence, security, high availability, fault isolation, and automated cloud build out to modernize the compute platform and improve agility, security, compliance, and COGS of services in the Experience and Devices division.
Requirements
- coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C-Sharp, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 5+ years of experience designing, building and supporting highly scalable, highly available and fault tolerant workloads on Azure or similar platforms.

Responsibilities
- defining and building solutions to deliver a high-level, prescriptive geo-scale application platform which standardizes how we deliver enterprise-ready services to the Microsoft cloud.
- working extensively with Microsoft Azure technologies while also using industry standard open sources such as Kubernetes and related components.
- provide effective mentoring, coaching and technical leadership to a team of engineers
- collaborate with numerous teams across Microsoft and have significant impact on hundreds of critical Microsoft services running on the COSMIC platform.
- Optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
- Leads the resolution of complex site incidents and oversees for Designated Responsible Individuals (DRI) and directs the work of other engineers across product lines.
- Keeps informed of and communicates new standards to ensure that the product development and scaling to customer requirements and applies best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations and holds accountability for products that do not meet expectations.

- 3+ years of Engineering leadership experience in delivering complex, time sensitive initiatives across organizational boundaries.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

- 6+ years people management experience.
- Oversees partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements within and across teams for multiple solutions or product lines.
- Oversees teams and provides technical leadership for identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
- Oversees teams to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) across products.
