Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Test Automation Systems Design Engineer to develop design verification and automated production test solutions for Satellite Communications Programs, solving customer's toughest challenges in the global aerospace and defense industry.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years experience in engineering design and development, with leadership experience, preferably related to Test equipment development efforts.
- Experience working in the engineering laboratory and transitioning automated solutions to production environments, delivering hardware and software deliverables providing on-site training to final operators.
- Experience with National Instruments’ software suite, including TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, and/or LabVIEW.
- Hardware station design efforts utilizing rack instrumentation, PXIe/MXI, VME application development.
- Experience with Digital, RF, and/or Power Supply test hardware and/or software design.
- Understanding of engineering processes: CMMI, 6 sigma.
- AutoCAD knowledge a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop test hardware and software, from requirements definition through build and integration processes, followed by deployment to manufacturing or customer facilities.
- Proven project leadership knowledge, leading a multi-disciplined team through program execution and deployment.
- In depth knowledge of computer architecture, COTs equipment, interconnects/interfaces and standard communication protocols.
- Proven skills in software development and integration using tools including NI TestStand, LabVIEW and/or LabWindows (CVI).
- Prepare and clearly present your work product at project status meetings
- Understand and responsibility to meet established project budget, schedule, and performance commitments.
- Work with mechanical engineering to design and develop test adapter and fixturing design activities.

- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in engineering design and development, with leadership experience, preferably related to Test equipment development efforts.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, decision-making and problem-solving skills, working individual tasks as well as within a team environment, and technical writing skills (MS Word, MX Excel, MS Visio).
