The Microsoft Entra Identity Governance team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to enable organizations to improve productivity, strengthen security, and more easily meet compliance and regulatory requirements by automating identity and access processes, delegating to business groups, and increasing visibility.
Requirements
- deep expertise in software architecture, scalability, and design patterns.
- 5+ years of experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems or cloud-based solutions.
- proficiency in debugging, performance optimization, and building secure, compliant services across platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- 5+ years of experience building large-scale solutions in Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with Azure networking, storage, and compute services is a plus.
- Demonstrated contributions to engineering excellence through published technical blogs, conference presentations, patents, or internal innovation initiatives.
- Candidates who have driven impactful architectural decisions or mentored engineering communities are highly valued.

- Share learnings and code assets developed with the Entra Governance engineering team.

- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.

- Proactively seek new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and demonstrate features developed in an Agile environment.
- Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
