O'Reilly's digital commerce product team needs a data and analytics expert to build the foundation for data-driven decision making, ensuring that GA4, tagging, and data collection strategies deliver clean, consistent, and actionable insights.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with GA4 event tracking, Google Tag Manager (GTM), and data layer design.
  • Strong understanding of ecommerce KPIs (conversion, funnel metrics, retention, etc.) and how to measure them.
  • Proficiency with SQL, BigQuery, or other query languages to analyze large datasets.
  • Experience with dashboarding/visualization tools (Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Exposure to digital analytics tools such as FullStory, Mixpanel, or Amplitude.
  • Familiarity with data governance and QA best practices in ecommerce analytics.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with product managers, engineers, and analytics partners.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and defines tracking and tagging requirements for ecommerce features, ensuring alignment with business goals and KPIs.
  • Partners with engineering to implement and manage the GA4 data layer, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and consistency.
  • Conducts validation, testing, and QA of GA4 and GTM event tracking to maintain confidence in data quality.
  • Develops documentation and tagging standards to ensure consistency across O’Reilly’s digital commerce ecosystem.
  • Translates product and business questions into data specifications, queries, and reporting requirements.
  • Provides insights into user behavior, funnel performance, and site interactions using GA4 and supplemental tools (e.g., FullStory).
  • Partners with business analytics teams to ensure ecommerce KPIs are tracked and reported accurately.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with product managers, engineers, and analytics partners.
