Apple’s R&D group is seeking a senior product design engineer to explore concepts and push the performance bounds of packaging and performance in highly integrated electro-mechanical systems
Requirements
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and creating 2D drawings
- Experience selecting and integrating electronics, sensors, and mechanisms in challenging packaging environments
- Strong mechanical engineering analytical skills
- Experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirements
- Fluent in Siemens NX including surfacing tools
- Experience working through entire product cycle including shipping product experience
- Experience with mechatronic systems and mechanical design of mechanisms
Responsibilities
- Mechanical design (3D and 2D drawings)
- Mechanism design and integration
- Electrical component integration (sensors, electronics, wiring, and harnesses)
- Prototype, evaluate, develop, and harden designs
- Close collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Partner with cross-functional teams such as electrical, controls, and embedded FW engineers to realize mechatronic system designs
- Selecting and integrating electronics, sensors, and mechanisms in challenging packaging environments
Other
- BS in mechanical engineering or similar field
- 5+ years of hands-on, mechanism and mechatronic product design experience
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including emails, preparing slide presentations, and presenting technical concepts to multi-disciplinary teams
- Detail orientated and capable of handling multiple assignments at once
- MS or PhD in mechanical engineering or similar field
