Apple's R&D group is seeking a senior product design engineer to be responsible for the mechanical design of mechanisms and mechatronic systems from concept generation through physical implementation and validation, pushing the performance bounds of packaging and performance in highly integrated electro-mechanical systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on, mechanism and mechatronic product design experience
- Experience selecting and integrating electronics, sensors, and mechanisms in challenging packaging environments
- Strong mechanical engineering analytical skills
- Experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirements
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and creating 2D drawings
- Fluent in Siemens NX including surfacing tools
- Experience working through entire product cycle including shipping product experience
Responsibilities
- Mechanical design (3D and 2D drawings)
- Mechanism design and integration
- Electrical component integration (sensors, electronics, wiring, and harnesses)
- Prototype, evaluate, develop, and harden designs
- Close collaboration with cross-functional teams
Other
- BS in mechanical engineering or similar field
- Experience working in technical project groups in a professional environment
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including emails, preparing slide presentations, and presenting technical concepts to multi-disciplinary teams
- Detail orientated and capable of handling multiple assignments at once
- Experience leading teams through product development cycle from concept development to production bring up
