Rippling needs to design and build a unified integrations framework that powers data flows across its platform, enabling customers to connect their various tools and systems seamlessly, thereby expanding its ecosystem of apps and software.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of end‑to‑end product design experience, with a portfolio of complex, high‑impact products delivered from initial concept through iteration and delivery.
  • Proven ability to think in systems and simplify complexity, with experience designing in challenging domains or compliance‑heavy environments.
  • A strong eye for visual and interaction craft, with the ability to produce clear, detailed specifications and contribute to the development of our design system.
  • Hands‑on experience designing admin flows for managing and editing data in integration‑heavy products—including mapping and transformation, conflict resolution, and granular feature/permission controls (e.g., OAuth scopes, RBAC).
  • A general understanding of data flow and governance in a rich app ecosystem—webhooks and event streams, data lineage and auditability, privacy and retention controls, and how to make smart trade‑offs alongside partner and platform constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Design the end‑to‑end integrations experience—from discovering connectors to authorization, configuration, field mapping, testing, sync scheduling, and monitoring—crafting systems that are fast, reliable, and radically simple.
  • Build reusable capabilities and systems that scale across Rippling’s product offerings—connection manager patterns, mapping and transformation components, permission/scope pickers, observability (logs, alerts, retries)—ensuring interaction patterns and visuals stay coherent platform‑wide.
  • Design clear admin controls that let customers manage and edit data safely and choose exactly which features they want to enable per integration (objects, events, sync directions, and frequency).
  • Partner deeply with Product, Engineering, and GTM—including platform, data, and partner teams—to scope, prototype, and ship new functionality, unblocking dependencies and negotiating trade‑offs (including third‑party API constraints) along the way.
  • Deliver high‑fidelity designs and interaction prototypes that make complex concepts crystal‑clear to internal stakeholders and (most importantly) end users.
  • Get close to customers, understand how they actually connect and use third‑party tools, spot the points where their workflows break, and turn those insights into strategic design priorities that drive real business impact.

Other

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, enabling you to articulate design decisions clearly and guide decision making with cross‑functional partners.
  • Relentless customer focus, backed by a habit of digging into real behavior, identifying pain points, and designing solutions that solve meaningful problems.
  • A bias toward action, especially in ambiguous or fast‑moving environments—you have a track record of generating many ideas, iterating quickly, unblocking dependencies, and owning timelines without daily oversight.
  • Rippling highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. For office-based employees (employees who live within a defined radius of a Rippling office), Rippling considers working in the office, at least three days a week under current policy, to be an essential function of the employee's role.
