3M is looking to solve complex problems by developing high impact innovative abrasives and novel, high-performance abrasive products by leveraging new technologies and applying knowledge of chemistry, chemical engineering, ceramics, or materials science & engineering.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of laboratory experience in an academic, private, public, government, or military environment.
- Experience with various web/film coating processes in the lab and at manufacturing scale.
- Adhesive selection and processing experience.
- Familiarity with plating chemistries.
- Demonstrated experience in new technology and/or product development.
- Experience with development of test methods.
- Prior successful demonstration of scale-up of products and technologies to manufacturing scale.
Responsibilities
- Collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop high impact innovative abrasives.
- Leveraging new technologies to develop novel, high-performance abrasive products.
- Applying knowledge of chemistry, chemical engineering, ceramics, or materials science & engineering to solve complex problems.
- Building product concepts to demonstrate feasibility and scaling up into manufacturing.
- Applying technical and leadership skills to impact key projects.
- Utilizing good communication skills to inspire, influence, motivate, and teach other team members.
- Experience with various web/film coating processes in the lab and at manufacturing scale.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university.
- Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
- Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
- All US-based 3M full time employees will need to sign an employee agreement as a condition of employment with 3M.
