Requirements
- Working knowledge of Regulatory and Public Domain Requirements including but not limited to FMVSS, IIHS, etc.
- Working Knowledge of simulation and testing methodologies for restraints and safety systems.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing and Assembly operations.
- Sharp focus on Quality and Cost management
- Experience with design thinking & user experience methods
- Experience with autonomy, electrification, smart mobility technologies
- Experience with FMA Documents, DVP&R, and quality documents
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, validate, and release Seats and Restraints System commodities, subsystems, and components for the assigned programs.
- Conduct extensive benchmarking of competitive products to improve cost and quality structure of Ford's products.
- Develop value management strategies for cross-carline products.
- Monitor the development of Interior trim and other interfacing components for Ford vehicles according to company-specific benchmarks.
- Design parts to comply with Corporate, Regulatory and Local Requirements for parts validation, considering the WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements), ES (Engineering Specifications) and SDS (Systems Design specifications) as well as Manufacturing and Assembly requirements.
- Translate Customer, Regulatory, and Product requirements into engineering targets.
- Monitor suppliers and analyze customer feedback through Ford's systems.
Other
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or Equivalent.
- 5+ Years - Experience working as a Design and Release Engineer for Interior Commodities, Seats and Restraints Commodity experience.
- Travel will be required to Ford assembly plants, Supplier design & testing locations as well as to supplier manufacturing locations in the US, Mexico and Canada.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others as part of a team.
- Significant problem-solving skills demonstrated previously.
