Kennesaw State University is looking to advance research discoveries from Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 to TRL 7, resulting in the development of minimally viable products (MVPs) ready for pilot studies, and to bridge the gap between academic research and market implementation.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) and product development lifecycles
- Knowledge of regulatory pathways for medical devices and digital health technologies
- Experience with rapid prototyping, MVP development, and pilot studies
- Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
- Strong project management abilities with a focus on driving milestones and deliverables
- Strong analytical capabilities for market analysis, competitive assessment, and commercialization strategy development
- Experience leading cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, researchers, and business strategists
Responsibilities
- Leads the product development activities of Innovation Labs affiliated with interdisciplinary Research Centers at KSU
- Oversees the progression of technologies from TRL 3 to TRL 7, focusing on the development of MVPs suitable for pilot studies
- Oversees prototyping, product design, and validation processes for medical devices, assistive technologies, mHealth applications, software, and other innovations
- Ensures alignment of Innovation Lab projects with market needs and regulatory requirements to optimize commercialization potential
- Works closely with the Technology Transfer Office, AVP for Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, and the HatchBridge Incubator to align development efforts with market opportunities
- Engages with faculty researchers to identify promising technologies and accelerate their path to market readiness
- Supports pilot studies and commercial market entry preparations in conjunction with strategic and commercial partners
Other
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
- Five (5) years of experience in product development, technology commercialization, or innovation management
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, and presentation skills
- Ability to represent institutional interests at conferences, workshops, and business development meetings
