Bradington-Young, a division of Hooker Furnishings, is seeking a skilled Product Development – Upholstery / Pattern and Spec Maker to transform design concepts into production-ready patterns and specifications, ensuring quality and efficiency in their domestic manufacturing team.
Requirements
- Must be able to perform inside upholstery, trim work, and pattern making, proficiency in all three areas is a strong plus
- Prior experience in upholstery pattern making or a similar role in the furniture industry
- Strong working knowledge of upholstery construction and materials
- Proficiency with hand tools used in pattern creation; CAD experience (AutoCAD, Gerber, Lectra, etc.) is a plus
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and bring them to life
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality inside upholstery using leather and fabric on various furniture styles
- Apply detailed trim work, including welts, skirts, buttons, and other finishing components
- Develop accurate patterns for new upholstery designs (currently by hand; CAD transition planned within a year)
- Create detailed product specifications including dimensions, materials, and construction details
- Modify patterns and specs to enhance quality and production efficiency
- Participate in the creation of new prototypes, evaluating fit, comfort, and visual appeal
- Provide hands-on technical support and resolve construction challenges as needed
