The company is looking to solve technical problems related to designing and commissioning equipment in refrigeration or oil & gas industries, by hiring a mechanical engineer to lead the review of customer specifications and ensure all designs meet major industry codes and standards.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as needed to complete reports.
- Proven ability to identify and implement automation solutions to streamline engineering processes and improve productivity.
- Thorough understanding of the product and/or process being inspected.
- Strong understanding of internal business practices and project management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with designing and commissioning equipment in refrigeration or oil & gas industries.
Responsibilities
- Lead the review of customer specifications to identify and address technical requirements, comments, clarifications, and exceptions.
- Lead the selection and specification of compressors and associated rotating equipment.
- Able to independently design and specify heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and piping based on project requirements.
- Perform engineering calculations for thermal dynamics, fluid mechanics, and system optimization on moderately complex systems.
- Create process and instrumentation diagrams and complex package layouts using PC-based drawing programs (AutoCAD preferred).
- Ensure all designs meet major industry codes and standards (ASME, API, ASHRAE, TEMA).
- Write and review inquiries, specifications, and requisitions for purchased equipment.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, or chemical engineering.
- Over 5 years of experience in designing and commissioning equipment in refrigeration or oil & gas industries.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
