Interface Systems is seeking a hardware engineer to design, evaluate, and optimize hardware components for their advanced security solutions, ensuring the hardware ecosystem is robust, reliable, and seamlessly integrated with their monitoring platform.
Requirements
- Experience with embedded systems, sensors, and physical security devices.
- Knowledge of networking hardware, PoE devices, and structured cabling standards.
- Proficiency with CAD tools for schematic and layout design.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in both lab and field environments.
- Experience integrating cameras, audio devices, and lighting systems into unified platforms.
- Familiarity with low-voltage power systems and backup power solutions.
- Experience with environmental and durability testing for outdoor-rated devices.
Responsibilities
- Design, evaluate, and optimize hardware configurations for security system deployments, including cameras, networking equipment, audio systems, lighting/strobe devices, and control panels.
- Develop hardware specifications, wiring diagrams, and integration schematics.
- Conduct lab and field testing to validate performance, environmental resilience, and interoperability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware performance issues during development, pilot programs, and production rollouts.
- Ensure compatibility between hardware and third-party security systems, network devices, and power solutions.
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate firmware, drivers, and embedded system components.
- Ensure hardware solutions meet regulatory, environmental, and industry standards (UL, FCC, CE, NDAA, etc.).
Other
- 3+ years of experience in hardware engineering, preferably in security systems, IoT, or networked devices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and vendor teams.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in both fast-paced R&D cycles and structured production rollouts.
