Requirements
- Knowledge of testing, safety and legal requirements for consumer products
- Knowledge of applicable raw materials and their performance and usage
- Strong knowledge of various 2-D and/or 3-D CAD software packages
- Exhibits a working knowledge of product manufacturing
Responsibilities
- interpret designer’s concepts, usher product through its development lifecycle, and provide technical product guidance to design, sourcing and merchant teams.
- providing effective product technical specifications and product quality standards to include: raw materials, fit/function, construction details, and product dimensions.
- ensure the brand vision is appropriately executed, work to identify and address manufacturing issues, and co-develop products.
- stay current on benchmarks for specified product categories to ensure Target product meets or exceeds the performance of the competitors’ product.
- partner with our quality and compliance teams to understand performance testing protocols and develop products that meet them.
- identify technical specifications and quality standards like raw materials, fit and function, construction details and dimensions.
- leverage collective expertise to suggest improvements to cost of goods, assembly, sustainability and ROI.
Other
- Four-year degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Product Development, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to build strong relationships in order to successfully work in a team environment
- This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs.
