Descript is looking to solve the problem of putting video in every communicator's toolkit by building a new way to record or generate videos that look and sound good, and driving user acquisition, activation, retention, and monetization.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product management experience, with at least a few in growth-focused roles.
  • Experience working on products with technical complexity, high design craft, and measurable growth impact.
  • Proven track record of turning insights into growth strategies.
  • Experience leading discovery work, defining features, and running experiments that solve real problems and move key metrics.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, shaping unformed ideas into clear strategies and repeatable wins.
  • Balance high-quality product experiences with a relentless focus on measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of our customers, market, and growth levers across the user lifecycle.
  • Lead experiments and initiatives that meaningfully impact acquisition, activation, engagement, and retention.
  • Define and own the growth strategy and roadmap for your product area — from opportunity sizing to execution to measuring results.
  • Partner with design, engineering, data, and marketing to deliver features and experiments that both delight users and accelerate Descript's growth.
  • Analyze user behavior, funnel performance, and A/B test results to uncover insights and inform next steps.
  • Drive company-wide growth initiatives that balance customer value with sustainable business impact.
