At Open Lending, the business problem is to help financial institutions say “yes” more often—expanding access to fair and affordable credit for millions of borrowers by combining advanced risk insights with technology that makes underwriting smarter, faster, and more transparent.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of credit underwriting, bureau data, and decision engines.
  • Experience working with ML-driven models, MLOps, or advanced analytics.
  • Ability to translate complex models into clear, maintainable business rules.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools (e.g., LLMs, model monitoring, explainability frameworks)
  • Technical fluency (SQL, Python, APIs) to partner effectively with engineers and data scientists.
  • Experience in consumer lending, credit risk management, or insurance-linked lending.
  • Background in regulated environments with knowledge of compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Underwriting Engine roadmap, ensuring underwriting rules are transparent, flexible, and aligned with business goals.
  • Collaborate with Risk and Data Science teams to translate advanced pricing models into production-ready decisioning frameworks.
  • Partner with MLOps to streamline model deployment, monitoring, and governance.
  • Leverage credit bureau and alternative data sources to unlock new insights and improve loan decisioning.
  • Work with engineering to deliver reliable, scalable features that improve automation and reduce manual intervention.
  • Define and track KPIs around decision accuracy, automation, and business impact.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies that could impact our product offerings.

Other

  • 5+ years of product management experience in financial services, lending technology, or risk modeling.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree (MBA or MS) strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to define product outcomes, set measurable goals, and validate results, in line with modern product management practices.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills; able to influence across engineering, risk, and business teams.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
