Etsy is looking to solve the problem of understanding its community of buyers and sellers and ensuring they're central to decision making, while driving buyer loyalty and retention to continue Etsy’s growth and relevance among shoppers globally.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in applied product research, and has led research before in a growing company, ideally in a B2C or e-commerce company
- 2+ years previous research management experience developing and motivating an impactful UX research team
- Strong point of view and inspirational, action-orientated research
- Ability to balance rigor and speed-to-learning, and guide teams on research plans and methodologies that do the same
- Confident using creative socialization techniques
- Ability to triangulate data, and spot trends and opportunities through synthesizing various qualitative and quantitative inputs
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 3+ UX researchers, mentoring them on UX methods, prioritization and career development
- Guide researchers on study design and wide range of generative and evaluative methods, including mixed-methods planning with quant and market researchers
- Apply agile research techniques and explore new ways to deliver rich insights in a fast paced environment
- Collaborate and communicate in a way that amplifies the voice of our customers, ensuring that the teams’ insights are embedded and acted upon
- Partner with peer managers on other teams or in other departments—such as Design, Product Management, Engineering, and Analytics
- Run your own projects when the need arises
- Partner with other research managers to grow and develop the research team via our toolkit, talent, and socialization techniques

- Must be based in the United States, with preference for candidates within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area
- In-office attendance once or twice per week depending on proximity to the office
