The NBA's Consumer & Fan Insights Team needs to support strategic initiatives across the league by leveraging data to influence data-driven decision-making and answer strategic business questions.
Requirements
- Experience using social listening and analytics tools (e.g., Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Sprout, Meltwater, Sprinklr, etc.)
- Intermediate SQL skills to be able to analyze large-scale datasets
- Experience working with first-party data cloud storage platforms such as Snowflake, Amplitude, Adobe, etc.
- Experience conducting primary research projects both using quantitative and qualitative methodologies
- Experience mining & analyzing syndicated research resources (i.e. GWI, MRI-Simmons, YouGov, ComScore, Nielsen, SimilarWeb, Sensor Tower, etc.)
- General experience with crosstab programs and/or software e.g. Q Research, Crunch IO
- Experience programming/scripting surveys using professional research survey software
Responsibilities
- Leverage the NBA’s first-party database to uncover insights and develop fan-driven stories that impact business decisions
- Help bridge the gap between first- and third-party data sources by supporting data appends, fusion studies, etc.
- Run "always on" social listening support on key team-related issues (e.g., international growth, brand insights, partner insights)
- Be an expert in behavioral datasets including first-party digital analytics, search/social data, and syndicated platforms (e.g., Comscore, SimilaWeb, SensorTower, etc.) to address key business questions
- Support the design, execution, analysis, interpretation and reporting of primary market research studies
- Help support, develop, and maintain insights dashboards using data visualization tools to help concisely summarize, visualize and build compelling storylines with data
- Visualize and story-tell with data to articulate narratives around NBA fans

- This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (10) months.
- A successful candidate will build relationships across departments and effectively communicate data/research outcomes to stakeholders.
- Present insights to stakeholders across business units
- 3+ years of experience in market research, consumer insights, digital analytics, data science or a related field
- Ability to present project findings insights and recommendations to both internal stakeholders and external partners/clients
