The Quality Assurance Manager leads quality assurance operations necessary to support a large food manufacturer. This role oversees the quality team, including multiple supervisors, and ensure compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. It drives continuous improvement initiatives, support business growth, and maintain the highest standards of product quality.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, including HACCP, GMP, FSMA, and ISO 22000.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and quality management software.
  • Certification in food safety (e.g., PCQI, SQF Practitioner) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality assurance operations at larger or more complex production sites, ensuring compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FSMA) and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure product safety and consistency.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Investigate and resolve complex quality-related issues, including customer complaints and non-conformances, by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, providing strategic insights and recommendations to site and corporate leadership.
  • Lead external audits and regulatory inspections, ensuring all documentation and processes are audit-ready.
  • Provide training and support to site employees on quality standards, food safety practices, and company policies.

Other

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience managing larger teams, including multiple supervisors, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence senior leadership.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
