Wake Forest University Health Sciences - Academic Research Oversight & Support is looking for an individual to design and deliver training programs for their Animal Research Program (ARP) personnel and researchers, ensuring compliance and best practices in animal care and research.
Requirements
- Technician certification by the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) required.
- Working knowledge of various laboratory animal species.
- Thorough knowledge and competence in working with computers and operating systems.
- Working knowledge and mastery of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- AALAS LATg certification preferred.
- Master's degree in Animal Science, Biological Science Physical Science preferred.
Responsibilities
- Designs and conducts hands-on and classroom training programs for ARP personnel.
- Collaborates with senior leaders to develop guiding principles, strategies, and plans for ARP training; conducts comprehensive need assessments; and determines education, training, and development priorities based on assessed needs, business impact, and available resources.
- Designs a program to prepare ARP staff (and research staff) for the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) technician certification at all levels.
- Assists in the development of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and help to maintain and update current SOPs.
- Revises and maintains the basic online training modules (e.g. LATA) used by the IACUC for researcher staff training.
- Updates and maintains University-driven website of best practices, SOPs, and information sources in conjunction with Regulatory Oversight Monitor.
- Coordinates the development of initial certification training as well as continuing education training for all research staff working with live animals.
Other
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Biological Science, Physical Science, related field or Associate's degree.
- Three years' experience in the design, delivery, and evaluation of business-related education, training and/or development programs preferably in a research environment required.
- Strong presentation development and delivery skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a service-oriented manner.
- On Site 3 days, remote 2 days. Subject to needs of AWP.
