Maintaining compliance with the ISO 9001 standard which is a key requirement for building ships for the US Navy.
Requirements
- Demonstrated employment background in Quality Administration, Trades, Ship-board Planning, Design, Marine Industry, or in a Project Engineering/ Management role will be additionally preferred.
- Ability to meet Job description with respect to the IT elements is required.
- Background in Quality Assurance or Control operating in regulated industry such as aerospace/defense, pharmaceutical, food or scientific environments required.
- Practical Experience with ISO9001 or similar system in ship-building or other highly regulated industry such as those stated previously.
- Demonstrated experience operating and participating in independent audit for certification of known Quality standard (ISO preferred).
- Working knowledge of planning systems such as MACPAC, and shop methods and construction processes preferred.
- High proficiency in MS Office Products with demonstrated mid-to-high level experience in MS Excel, Access, Project, and Visio strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Accomplish audits of the Quality Management System and work with departments to implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain documents that govern the quality management system.
- Participate in the multitude of roles that quality assurance takes to ensure products meet the customers’ requirements. This could be, but not limited to, engineering and manufacturing product audits, equipment care and protection audits, vendor material inspections, vendor quality management system audits, calibration lab audits as well as others.
- Collect and review quality data for trends, patterns, anomalies and make recommendations for corrective actions in various departmental processes (Engineering, Manufacturing etc.).
- Ensure that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards.
- Develop and implement work instructions and procedures that govern the work done by the Quality team.
- Utilize the A3 methodology and BIW’s BOS to continually improve quality and results.
