Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineer to support their manufacturing quality team by performing dimensional inspections, conducting audits, analyzing quality data, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to ensure materials, processes, and products meet company and customer standards.

Requirements

  • Experience with SAP for routing reviews, inspection planning, and scrap coordination.
  • Practical knowledge of Gage R & R and ability to coordinate calibration of tools such as Hytorc torque tools, laser trackers, laser scanner, Romer Arms, and GMMs.
  • Proficiency in laser tracker and Romer arm inspections, including program creation and PPAP documentation.
  • Ability to support inspection teams with print interpretation, inspection methods, and training.
  • Hands-on experience with CI cards, fixture design, 5S events, and ergonomic improvements.
  • Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct measurement system analysis and track non-conformance data.
  • Maintain quality documentation and support internal/external audits.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop digital tools (e.g., Power BI dashboards) and generate monthly KPI reports.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and process optimization efforts.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using laser tracker and scanner systems on machined structural weldments.
  • Analyze quality data.

Other

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field (preferred).
  • Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis; ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available.
  • Travel will be up to 10%.
