Requirements
Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel
At least one (1) year of steel manufacturing quality experience
Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science
5 years’ experience in the technical field relating to steel processing
Exhibit strong organization/record retention skills and strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Responsibilities
Maintains extensive knowledge of customer quality standards and surface defects – both upstream and internally generated
Troubleshoot quality issues and drives improvement initiatives
Coaches inspectors to enhance defect detection and problem-solving
Ensure accuracy of the rejection database to ensure correct Unified Defect Code (UDC’s) are used and proper source cause is assigned
Investigate and adapt to evolving customer quality requirements and inquiries by communicating with customer staff, technical service staff, sales, etc
Reviews new parts for production compatibility
Utilizes Order Fulfillment & Containment System (OFS) and web disposition systems for coil, order, and Customer Quality Requirements (CQR) information

Follows and promotes safety policies
Demonstrates strong organizational and decision-making skills under pressure
