Steel Dynamics is looking for interns to support and maintain quality programs, conduct testing, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within their steel production operations.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain quality programs aligned with steel industry standards.
- Assist in preparing, monitoring, and maintaining quality documents (PFMEAs, Control Plans, audit records).
- Participate in internal, external, and customer audits; assist in documenting findings and corrective actions.
- Work with team members to perform root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans.
- Conduct sample testing on coils, including width, gauge, hardness, adherence, coating thickness, and tensile properties.
- Support metallurgical and material property testing, including chemical coating analysis, zinc coating weights, and spectrometer testing.
- Contribute to strip inspection activities, data collection, and reporting of results.
Other
- Currently pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Metallurgy/Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering/Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering
- Preferred GPA of 2.7 or higher.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
