Pen Manufacturing is seeking a Quality Manager to lead and oversee quality assurance and control operations in their contract manufacturing environment specializing in sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining to ensure products meet internal specifications, customer expectations, and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems and ITAR regulations.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and interpreting GD&T for complex machined and fabricated parts.
- Familiar with tools such as calipers, micrometers, CMMs, and other precision measurement instruments.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar ASQ certification.
- Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and quality modules.
- Familiarity with PPAP, FMEA, SPC, or APQP processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the facility’s Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with AS9100 and other applicable standards.
- Supervise and support inspection activities across all stages of manufacturing—raw materials, in-process, and final inspection for sheet metal and CNC components.
- Ensure all measuring and test equipment is calibrated and maintained.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes (CAPA).
- Manage quality documentation, inspection records, material traceability, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Prepare and present quality performance metrics and reports to leadership and customers.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using tools like 5S, Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing principles tailored for contract manufacturing.
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of quality management experience in a contract manufacturing environment with a focus on sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Primarily shop-floor and production area presence required.
- Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs) and standing for extended periods.
