At Smith+Nephew, the business problem is to develop next-generation AI applications for orthopedics, wound care, or sports medicine products, and to analyze data, develop models, and create interfaces for exploring and utilizing AI to help patients live a Life Unlimited.
Requirements
- Strong coding skills in Python, R, MATLAB, or similar data science coding languages.
- Familiarity with machine learning libraries such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, or Keras.
- Strong understanding of data analytic techniques and the ability to implement these approaches.
Responsibilities
- Researching the latest generation of AI models to understand their capabilities and potential applications.
- Obtaining and cleaning training data sets to prepare them for use in training AI models.
- Developing feature encodings to extract meaningful information from the data.
- Coding and implementing machine learning methods to build and train AI models.
- Analyzing and validating models with statistical techniques to ensure their accuracy and effectiveness.
- Developing interfaces for exploring and utilizing AI to make it easy for others to use the models I develop.
- Work in a collaborative, fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Other
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
- Master’s, or Doctoral degree in a relevant engineering discipline preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience using machine learning tools in an academic and/or job setting.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate my findings and recommendations effectively.
- Travel Requirements: up to 5%
