Boston Dynamics is seeking an R&D Robotics Technician to assist the Spot Engineering team with the construction, operation, testing, and troubleshooting of integrated mechanical and electrical systems for their advanced robotic platforms, aiming to solve tough robotics challenges and become a leader in industrial automation.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building and debugging electro-mechanical test setups, fixtures or similar equipment.
- Experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, programmable loads, thermal probes.
- Experience with test automation.
- Experience with Python and command-line operations in a UNIX-like OS.
- Experience working with robots and/or robotic systems.
- Experience with CAD programs such as Catia, SolidWorks, or similar.
- Experience interpreting schematic capture and PCB layout
Responsibilities
- Conducts initial build of complex prototype electromechanical sub-assemblies such as computers, power distribution systems, sensors, embedded data acquisition systems, and embedded processors for robotic systems.
- Independently conducts design validation testing for new robot subsystems.
- Troubleshoots and identifies root causes of system failures in sub-assemblies and complete robots.
- Creates test plans and procedures with little engineering guidance.
- Performs a critical role by identifying detailed and nuanced design issues and recommending corrective actions to design engineers.
- May design custom test fixtures or robot subsystems using CAD programs such as Altium and Catia.
- Maintains and monitors long-running test-stand experiments, collecting test data and noting and communicating unexpected results or issues.
