VMware by Broadcom is modernizing data centers, integrating public clouds, empowering digital workspaces, and transforming cyber security. The VMKernel team is responsible for the core operating system kernel for ESXi, which is central to VMware's virtualization technology and used by most large corporations.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of kernel-level OS architectures such as Linux, Unix, Solaris, BSD-like systems, Windows, embedded real-time Operating Systems
- Extensive kernel-level development experience and expertise with synchronization in preemptive multi-threaded environments.
- Experience with Intel x86 CPU architecture and Intel based server architecture.
- Similar experience and understanding of AMD architecture, a plus.
- Excellent analytical, debugging and C programming skills
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing engineers who are building a state-of-the-art, virtualization operating system
- Define processes and execution methodologies for the organization to deliver on performance goals.
- Work with multiple cross functional teams like PMs, engineering teams, customers and program managers to ensure that projects and roadmaps are delivered based on the business needs.
- Mentor architects and engineering teams to grow them into future leaders.
Other
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field and 12+ years of relevant industry experience. Or MS degree in Computer Science or related field and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 3yrs of experience managing engineers and projects in an R&D setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- The annual base salary range for this position is $141,300 - $226,000.
- This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
