General Atomics is looking to solve advanced technical engineering problems in radiation, reliability, and specialty engineering
Requirements
- General knowledge in Space (LEO, MEO and GEO) Radiation Environments, and how they impact electronics and circuits
- Knowledge of radiation effects, such as TID (HDR), ELDRS, DDD, Proton and/or Heavy-Ion particles induced SEE and Flash X-Ray Dose
- Knowledge of radiation effects Microcircuits, Hybrids, Semiconductors and Passive Components fabrication (process technologies)
- Knowledge of standards; EEE-INST-002, and MIL standard MIL-STD-883, TM1019, Cond A or D, and other related standards for space missions
- Radiation Transport analysis
- Software and analytical; FASTRAD, Creme96, Omere, Spenvis, Matlab
- Previous experience with optical systems, flight systems, space systems and military systems is desired
Responsibilities
- Leads a team of technical staff and engineers responsible for executing radiation analysis, as well as reliability, availability, and maintainability engineering
- Develops innovative but practical solutions to advanced technical problems in engineering
- Provides focal point for technical communication within the Company management and may represent the Company as the prime technical contact to customers and/or government regulatory agencies
- Presents report(s) at engineering meetings, participates in program reviews and consults on problems
- Provides expert guidance and consulting to other staff members working on difficult engineering problems
- Anticipates future engineering needs and the modifications required to accomplish a technical goal
- Addresses complex and difficult technical issues requiring novel and highly creative approaches drawing on advanced engineering concepts

- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment is required
- Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems
- Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering or a related technical field as well as eleven or more years of progressively complex engineering experience with at least five of those years having management responsibilities
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
