Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) is seeking a Real Time Trader I to ensure the service territory has the right amount of energy on an hourly basis by buying and selling energy, starting and stopping utility generators, and maximizing the value of long-term contracts.
Requirements
- Power negotiation, sales, and purchases
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs including the Microsoft Office Suite
- Foundational understanding of current marketplace power pricing and supply conditions, and real-time trading practices.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in power resources or utility operations that includes experience in one or more of the following areas: risk management, utility industry operating requirements, financial analysis and/or customer contact.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and implement power sales, purchases, and exchange of power and transmission products.
- Calculate, estimate and resolve on a real time basis the requirements for power interchange to meet EWEB and client utility sales, system load and generation requirements.
- Conduct financial modeling and risk assessment.
Other
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, and have the ability to work nights, evenings and weekends.
- Strong time management skills
- Associates degree in Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Economics or Engineering; an equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
