OpenAI's Robotics team is building foundational capabilities at the intersection of hardware, software, autonomy, and operations, and needs to grow rapidly. The business problem is to find and hire top talent for this early-stage, fast-moving team in competitive technical fields.

Requirements

  • Have strong full-cycle recruiting foundations and can flex into sourcing deeply when needed.
  • Are organized, proactive, and able to drive searches forward with autonomy and clarity.
  • Have experience supporting early-stage teams, startups, or VC incubators, and are comfortable acting as a hands-on talent partner in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruiting for robotics roles across engineering, hardware, operations, and cross-functional domains.
  • Build and maintain high-quality pipelines through a mix of outbound sourcing and inbound assessment.
  • Partner closely with executives and senior ICs to refine searches and evaluate candidates.
  • Guide candidates through a clear, thoughtful, and organized process.
  • Close candidates with confidence and provide strong counsel on timing, trajectory, and role fit.
  • Maintain reliable operational rigor across documentation, scheduling, and communication.

Other

  • Partner directly with senior leaders and subject-matter experts to define profiles, build pipelines, assess talent, and close high-impact hires in competitive spaces.
  • We’re looking for people who have strong recruiting fundamentals, are comfortable with ambiguity, and can build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • This team operates with high visibility and handles sensitive work, so strong judgment and confidentiality are key.
  • This role is based in San Francisco, CA.
  • We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
  • Communicate clearly, anticipate stakeholder needs, and operate with maturity in high-visibility contexts.
  • Build genuine, long-term relationships with candidates and hiring partners.
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy creating structure in a fast-moving, startup-like environment.
