The University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC) requires business support to enhance the efficiency of office and location support activities within the Biological Sciences Division (BSD). This role will ensure the correct functioning of facilities and office support services, manage administrative tasks for faculty and lab staff, and streamline operations to support research initiatives.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Suite, including Outlook.
- Understand complex documents, such as clinical trials.
- Familiar with research equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provides basic administrative support for designated faculty members and their laboratory staff, including but not limited to supply replenishment.
- Organizes and manages lab-related administrative tasks, ensuring timely execution and prioritization.
- Manages group mailing lists, handles incoming emails, and processes purchases for lab needs. Creates shipping labels and assists with shipping for the lab group.
- Coordinates group meetings and events, including ordering food and drinks, setting up rooms, and checking AV equipment.
- Assists in onboarding new lab members, ensuring all necessary documentation and access are in place.
- Assists with providing administrative support for the UCCCC director. Stays informed of activities relating to programs and initiatives.
- Tracks lab equipment, ensuring accurate records.

- Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).
- Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
- Interact and communicate with clarity, tact, and courtesy with patrons, patients, staff, faculty, students, and others.
