ProSidian seeks a Research Analyst I to support an engagement for a Department of the United States Federal Government, primarily responsible for developing and executing federal laws related to farming, forestry, and food, with the goal of evaluating the Onion Crop Insurance Program and Pilot Onion Stage Removal Option.
Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/Power point) and related tools and technology required for the position
- Ability to work with large databases and data mining tools
- Experience with relational databases, descriptive and predictive statistics, survey administration and data collection
- Experience leveraging time series, geospatial, weather, agricultural, or trading/price-discovery data a plus
- Ability to work with Research Analyst II & III to conduct relevant analyses
- Ability to identify regional differences in crop yield, marketing, and risk factors
- Experience in project management in the agricultural insurance field for private companies and/or governments
Responsibilities
- Develop and conduct survey research on insured and uninsure producers
- Utilize data analytics to communicate regional differences in program policy and recommendations for improvement
- Conduct secondary analysis of data to calculate the probability of and costs associated with production and marketing of the crop, patterns of loss and regional differences, and adequacy of the premium rates relative to insurance experience
- Summarize the results to design and price insurance policies
- Create an evaluation and recommendation for the Onion Crop Insurance Program and Pilot Removal Option
- Create statistical summaries to provide a scope of the crop program and each region
- Determine if there are any discrepancies between the policy provisions, procedures, current practices, and technology in the industry

- Consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Travel as coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing by the Contracting Officer in advance, is allowed
- GS-10 Equivalent: Bachelor degree in a quantitative discipline
