ProSidian seeks a Research Analyst II to support an engagement for a Department of the United States Federal Government, primarily responsible for developing and executing federal laws related to farming, forestry, and food, with the goal of evaluating the Onion Crop Insurance Program and Pilot Onion Stage Removal Option.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/Power point) and related tools and technology required for the position
  • Ability to formulate research designs and data/measurement requirements, collect, manipulate, and integrate data sources
  • Training in and knowledge of multiple research methods, e.g., survey research, qualitative methods, experimental design, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relational databases, descriptive and predictive statistics, survey administration and data collection
  • Experience leveraging time series, geospatial, weather, agricultural, or trading/price-discovery data a plus
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate results effectively
  • Experience in Agricultural research and data collection for private companies and/or governments

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct survey research on insured and uninsure producers
  • Utilize data analytics to communicate regional differences in program policy and recommendations for improvement
  • Conduct secondary analysis of data to calculate the probability of and costs associated with production and marketing of the crop, patterns of loss and regional differences, and adequacy of the premium rates relative to insurance experience
  • Create statistical summaries to provide a scope of the crop program and each region
  • Determine if there are any discrepancies between the policy provisions, procedures, current practices, and technology in the industry
  • Perform an independent evaluation of the prices established for the insured commodity
  • Prepare statistical summaries of county average yields

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years
  • Ability to work with Research Analyst II & III to conduct relevant analyses
  • Travel as coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing by the Contracting Officer in advance, is allowed
