Texas A&M University is seeking a Research Associate to assist with ongoing translational research investigating nutrition, exercise, and metabolism in relation to aging and common diseases. The role involves preparing materials, coordinating sample management, and performing analytical chemistry sample analysis within a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory.
Requirements
- Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment
- Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software
- Good background in standard chemical-analytical laboratory techniques including: preparation of sample batches, making standard solutions, routine equipment maintenance, run MS analyses, reporting results and quality control
- Experience in a biosafety level 2 laboratory
- Multiplexed immunoassay system milliplex analyser, Luminex xMAP technology), with microplate washer (BioTek, 405 TS)
- Epoch 2 Microplate Spectrophotometer (Agilent BioTek, Winooski VT)
- AFS-8D Milli-Q analytical water purifier (Millipore)
Responsibilities
- Preparing materials and supplies needed to carry out specific aims of the research protocol
- Coordinate sample management and analytical chemistry sample analysis within a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory
- Conducts and coordinates experiments in support of various research projects
- Installs, operates, and/or repairs research equipment
- Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results
- Sample (storage) management
- Equipment calibration and maintenance
Other
- May have to work on the weekend and/or after normal hours.
- May travel as required.
