The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub New York is looking to solve the problem of investigating the fundamental mechanisms underlying disease and developing new technologies that will lead to actionable diagnostics and effective therapies.
Requirements
- At least 1 year experience of molecular and/or synthetic biology techniques
- At least 1 year experience in next generation sequencing
- Comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms underlying the experiments
- Strong troubleshooting skills in developing and optimizing experimental protocols or technology
- Familiarity with data analysis and single-cell analytic workflows
- Experience with designing, performing, and troubleshooting experiments
- Demonstrated experience in single cell multi-omics technologies
Responsibilities
- Design and perform molecular biology assays including primer design, DNA/RNA purification, gel electrophoresis, PCR, etc.
- Execute benchmarking and optimizing single cell/nuclei extraction, barcoding, and library preparation methods
- Perform next generation sequencing
- Assist in identifying and recommending improvements to experimental processes and best practices
- Support development of single cell multi-omics profiling technologies for high throughput screening
- Collaborate with other scientists to achieve optimal experimental design and problem-solving
- Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and presentations
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, or related field plus 2 years of research experiences, or master’s degree with no research experience required
- Ability to communicate effectively across interdisciplinary teams, including biologists, data scientists, and engineers
- Demonstrate initiative and proactive attitude to problem solving
