The Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering within the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University is looking to solve problems related to the development of flight vehicles and subsystems mathematical models and integration within a comprehensive simulation environment.

Requirements

  • Experience is required in modeling and simulation of missile systems dynamics, including components such as actuators and sensors under normal and abnormal operational conditions
  • artificial intelligence techniques for aerospace engineering applications
  • strong background and research experience in modeling, simulation, and control of autonomous flight vehicles
  • significant publication record on modeling, simulation, and analysis of missiles and other autonomous flight vehicles
  • ability to work on multiple teams, large projects
  • good communication skills, writing of progress reports, and documentation
  • demonstrated ability to teach engineering undergraduate courses

Responsibilities

  • development of flight vehicles and subsystems mathematical models and integration within a comprehensive simulation environment
  • performance of simulation tests and analyzes
  • writing reports, proposals, and technical documentation
  • dissemination of research results through technical publications
  • interaction with collaborating teams
  • departmental support teaching engineering courses
  • limited travel to technical meetings organized by the sponsor and/or to technical conferences

Other

  • PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • ability to work on multiple teams, large projects, with good communication skills
