Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Research Associate to support research activities within the Barth Laboratory, specifically involving small animal surgery, brain imaging, bioinformatics, and data analysis.
Requirements
- experience with small animal surgery including stereotaxic brain injections
- cranial window preparations for imaging
- background in bioinformatics and the ability to generate and manipulate large datasets
- familiarity with image analysis programs including ImageJ, Suite2P, and MatLab
- familiar with histological preparation of brain samples for immunohistochemistry and fluorescence microscopy analysis
- Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect, and record results or observations.
- May program software in support of job functions.
Responsibilities
- Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect, and record results or observations.
- Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures.
- Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
- Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination, or presentation; writes technical reports.
- May build and validate quantitative models.
