The Ohio State University's Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity is looking to solve the problem of understanding the interface of commensal microbes with the immune system in barrier tissues through basic biological/health science research.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Master's degree preferred
- 1 year of experience required
- 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred
- experience in a biological/health research capacity is required
- experience with microbiology and immunology techniques and procedures, including confocal microscopy and flow cytometry desired
- experience with animal handling and husbandry desired
Responsibilities
- participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects
- designs and executes complex laboratory experiments
- performs advanced microbiology and immunology techniques and procedures, including confocal microscopy and flow cytometry
- collects, analyzes and interprets research data
- assists with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques
- tests experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization
- performs routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs, and harvesting of tissues
Other
- Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in biological sciences
- Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required
- Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check
- A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week, first shift
