UCLA Social Welfare is seeking a Research Analyst to support data collection, cleaning, and coding for research projects aimed at advancing social justice, promoting health and mental health, and enhancing child and family well-being.

Requirements

  • Understanding of basic research methods (qualitative and quantitative).
  • Familiarity with survey design and data collection protocols.
  • Proficiency with data management platforms (e.g., Excel, Qualtrics, Stata, Dedoose)
  • Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality practices.
  • Awareness of social science concepts and terminology (e.g., health equity, poverty, early childhood development)
  • Ability to create clear data visualizations and summaries.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.

Responsibilities

  • supporting data collection, cleaning, and coding for both qualitative and quantitative research projects
  • contribute to the development and implementation of data management protocols
  • assist with survey administration and interview transcription
  • apply coding frameworks to analyze open-ended responses and large datasets

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive data
  • Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
