The Department of Industrial Relations, Office of the Director - Research Unit, is responsible for determining the prevailing wage in compliance with the California Labor Code and related regulations, and the Research Data Analyst I position is needed to support this effort.
Requirements
- experience in conducting technical, economic or policy research and analyses of regulatory issues
- ability to analyze complex issues and prepare recommendations under tight deadlines with minimal oversight
- excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret complex information and communicate into a clear cohesive message to the public or other appropriate audience
- ability to represent the department professionally and respectfully while building strong working relationships with other employees, the regulated public and external stakeholders
- knowledge of database applications
- experience with PCs with Windows
- familiarity with copy/fax machines, VOIP telephone system, and shredders
Responsibilities
- compiling and classifying data from collective bargaining agreements and other sources
- preparing and checking statistical tables
- writing brief technical notes and drafting text of reports and memos
- answering regulated public and external stakeholder inquiries and collecting data by written correspondence and telephone
- conducting surveys including the design of questionnaires
- revising tables applying user-oriented programming techniques
