The job is looking to solve the problem of providing essential Internet service to unserved and disadvantaged populations by informing critical policies through technical knowledge and research.

Requirements

  • spatial and statistical analysis
  • gathering, developing, implementing, and monitoring systems to assemble necessary data
  • validating the accuracy of structured and unstructured data
  • collecting, validating, integrating, analyzing, and maintaining data to conduct spatial analysis to inform policy and programs.
  • developing, investigating, and analyzing other thematic and/or demographic information from multiple data sources using GIS, Access, R, Excel ,Tableau, and other available software.
  • effectively communicating technical information in written and oral formats.
  • Knowledge of network and transmission technologies and methods underlying the provision of Broadband Internet Access Service.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State legislation and policies related to Broadband Internet Access Service, and the communications industry generally.
  • Significant knowledge and experience working with U.S. Census data.

Responsibilities

  • independently develop and utilize research and techniques, including spatial and statistical analysis, to inform policy on broadband needs of the state.
  • responsible for a wide range of research and analytical duties regarding complex statistical data, gathering, developing, implementing, and monitoring systems to assemble necessary data.
  • responsible for validating the accuracy of structured and unstructured data being reported.
  • Describe your experience collecting, validating, integrating, analyzing, and maintaining data to conduct spatial analysis to inform policy and programs.
  • Describe your experience developing, investigating, and analyzing other thematic and/or demographic information from multiple data sources using GIS, Access, R, Excel ,Tableau, and other available software.
  • Describe your experience in effectively communicating technical information in written and oral formats.

  • Virtual interviews via web portals or phone may be offered as deemed appropriate and feasible by the hiring manager – standard in-person interviews will still be offered if conditions permit.
  • This position requires travel.
  • This is a hybrid position that will require the selected candidate to report to their assigned headquarter office a minimum of two (2) days a week.
  • Hybrid positions may be eligible for telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California.
  • In accordance with CPUC Telework Policy, telework arrangements are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time.
