Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Research Data Analyst to provide data quality and analytics expertise for healthcare data, working with project leaders, project managers, and data quality teams to assess and improve data quality for various healthcare data types and new data products.

Requirements

  • Has demonstrated an understanding of analysis methods, design concepts, data organization, business models, capabilities and limitations. Successfully applies statistical/data analytics concepts in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Skillfully demonstrates data modeling in applications of moderate difficulty. Integrates data modeling into an overall systems development methodology [SDM]. Uses prominent structured and object-oriented modeling methods of logical business data modeling. Knows the fundamental principles of conceptual data modeling using the leading Entity/Relationship Diagramming [ERD] methods.
  • Skillfully demonstrates metadata analysis in applications of moderate difficulty. Navigates within established technology environments to locate, validate, extract, and format data for data analysis. Modifies and runs queries and standard reports from data tools and provide to users. Identifies data values and data sources.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data types
  • Strong understanding of relational databases
  • Python, R, SQL
  • Experience creating and working with visualization software (Python and R packages, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Assists with ad hoc reporting of data quality
  • Supports data quality benchmark reporting for baseline and new data types
  • Collaborates with project leads, project managers and engineering teams to develop quality assurance methodologies and conduct quality assurance tests on baseline and new data types
  • Assist with the development of operational reports and dashboards
  • Identify areas where data quality improvements are needed

Other

  • This is a full-time/exempt term position lasting six months to one year.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, math, statistics or related field (or equivalent experience) (required)
  • 2 years relevant experience (required)
  • Master of Science degree in computer science, math, statistics or related field
  • Experience working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
