The Biomedical Microdevices and Nanotechnology Lab under Dr. Shalini Prasad is seeking a Research Engineer to work on biomedical microdevices and nanotechnology projects, requiring strong technical and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of assignment
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
- Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, MATLAB, C/C++)
- Prior object-oriented programming experience (preferred)
- Experience with analyzing, processing, and visualizing large data sets using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Spotfire)
- Experience with lab equipment test set-up and instrument automation (e.g., digital oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power supply, DMM)
- Familiarity with low-speed interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI)
- Development of boot loader software for ARM devices
- Familiarity with SPI/UART hardware and software
- Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) experience
- Familiarity with BLE hardware and software (specifically, Nordic chipsets)
- Experience with IAR Embedded Workbench or similar
Responsibilities
- Design and implement prototype design revisions with BOM in PCB design software
- Oversee and communicate manufacturing of prototypes with vendors
- Design and implement firmware revisions for manufactured prototypes
- Create test plans and test cases for prototype use cases
- Author reports and communications pertaining to key system results and checkpoints with a multidisciplinary team
- Maintain version control and user documentation for all works using GitHub

- Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice
- May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment
- Must enroll in and complete a Daily Health Check each day
- Must participate in the University’s mandatory COVID-19 testing program
